Ignite the Depths Playtest Patch 1.01
SK Studios' first playtest patch retunes Skeleton Archer, fixes controller sensitivity and a game-breaking ready-up bug, softens the early game, and unifies Priest and Warrior blocking with the Guardian's damage-threshold system.
What happened
One day into the open playtest, SK Studios shipped Patch 1.01, addressing early feedback and several bugs. The patch notes single out solo-play difficulty, Pyromancer's mana loop being under-explained, and a bug that could stop the game from loading after everyone readied up.
Combat & balance
•Skeleton Archer hitbox extended
•Skeleton Archer kick nerfed (speed and damage)
•Increased the reach of all weapons in the game
•Reduced damage taken in solo by 20% and enemy health in solo by 15% — both a temporary tuning pass while a proper difficulty selector is planned
•Priest and Warrior now use the Guardian's damage-threshold blocking (a resource bar with its own UI element) instead of a flat time limit
Bug fixes & QOL
•Fixed the Y-axis sensitivity setting not working
•Controller sensitivity now defaults to 20% instead of 1%
•Fixed Skeleton Knight orbs spawning out of bounds
•Fixed a crash preventing the game from loading after everyone readied up
•Added toggle sprint to options
•Main menu locked to 60 FPS (was uncapped)
•Fixed enemies attacking/shooting through doors
•Reduced the difficulty of the game's introduction and added more cues to prevent players getting lost early on
•Started ongoing CPU optimization work on entities — SK Studios flagged this as a known regression from earlier builds, still being tracked down
What this means for players
SK Studios directly addressed a complaint several early creators raised independently: Pyromancer feeling weak. Per the notes, that's mostly a tutorialization gap, not a balance gap — fireballs generate more mana than they cost, and that surplus is meant to chain into the class's other spells. If you're playing Pyromancer and running dry, the intended loop is to build mana with your basic fireball before spending on bigger spells.
